Frog Dissection Day

Date Mar 24 - Mar 27
Teacher Kyle Mckenzie

Students will have the opportunity to partake in a frog dissection as part of our “Cells & Human Systems” unit.  The goal of this activity is to see how the different systems (i.e. The Excretory System, Digestive System, Respiratory System, and Circulatory System) interact and are arranged within the abdominal cavity.  I would highly encourage ALL students to at least attempt to attend this excellent learning opportunity.  I can assure all parents, that on the day of the dissection, I have an open door policy which allows students to simply exit the classroom to take a breather for as long as they feel they need.  Again, I can assure parents that there will never be any pressure for students to stay in a situation where they feel uncomfortable.  Having said that, I understand that for many, this will be their first encounter with dissecting an animal and that it can be out of their comfort zone.  However, the vast majority of the time I find that some of my most nervous students quickly get over their apprehensions and often they become some of the most intrigued and inquisitive participants.

If you have any questions or concerns, please don’t hesitate to contact me.
