Courtney Wehlage

About Me

My name is Courtney Wehlage and I am so thankful to have been at GS Lakie since 2015-2016 school year.  I love being a GATOR!

I graduated with a B.FA (dramatic arts)/B.ED from the University of Lethbridge in 2006.  After that, I started a fulltime job at FP Walshe in Fort Macleod where I stayed for 10 years before coming to the swamp at Lakie.

I believe that all students are different, and therefore learn at different rates and in different ways.  It is my job to provide a variety of learning experiences so that all students can learn and grow throughout the year.  I believe that education is about teaching the whole student, and it is through the Alberta curriculum that we are able to assist students in learning about themselves, their families and the world around them.  I love watching students find joy in learning and I love helping them along their individual journeys.

This year at G.S. Lakie I will be teaching Language Arts, Social Studies, and Drama.  I am Co-Directing "Middle Class" by Brad Slaight with John Malcolm which opens November 28-30.  It is a look into the lives of middle school kids; the hilarious, the mundaine, and the emotional lives.  It will be a neat experience for our students to try this new format of the performing arts, and will showcase some great talent that our Gators have.

I look forward to another great year here at GS Lakie.
