Hello! My name is Susan Keller and I am happy to be in my second year as a G.S. Lakie teaching staff.
I have the privilege of teaching grade 7 Social Studies, Language Arts, as well as being 7B's advisor and Friday teacher. I also moonlight as a Science 8 teacher to 8 F & H in conjunction with Kyle McKenzie. Though my Bachelor of Education degree, from the University of Alberta, majored in P.E and minored in Biology, I feel my love of language and travel makes me well equiped to teach LA and history in SS. I hope my passion for literature and curiousity about the world will rub off on my students and ignite, or fuel, their love of reading, writing and discovery of why we are the way we are in the world.
Personally, I am the mom to three active teenaged daughters!! I KNOW, and live, the crazy that can happen in the middle school years. In 2014 I returned to teaching after an amazing 14 year "secondment" as a stay-home mom. I have thoroughly enjoyed my return to the classrrom and feel my life experience makes me a better teacher. Our family lived in both New Brunswick and Nova Scotia prior to landing here 3 years ago, and were immediately impressed with the school system -that made the leap back to the working world easy. My husband, girls and I love to be active, try new adventures and discover the world around us.
