Jenelle Macdonald

My name is Jenelle Macdonald and this is my fourth-year teaching but my first year at Lakie! I’m so excited to be part of this amazing school community. This year, I will be teaching Grade 8 Social Studies/ LA and Grade 6 Social Studies! I will also be coaching Volleyball and Basketball, Go Gators!!  

I was born and raised in Vancouver, BC and moved to Lethbridge only four years ago to get away from the rain. I am still trying to adjust to Southern Alberta winters though, -30 degrees was not something I was built for. Before moving to Lethbridge, I had the opportunity to teach K-12 Physical and Health Education in Antigua for a few years. It was there that I fell in love with teaching so I pursued my education degree at UBC. 

In my classroom, I am extremely passionate about social and emotional learning. I love to create a space that is calming but also promotes inquiry and collaboration. Outside of teaching I am passionate about hiking, reading, golfing, tacos, 80’s music, physical and mental health, my family and my dog Bolt. 

I can’t wait to see what exciting things this school year brings!
