Sydney Huculak

Hi there!

My name is Sydney Huculak (Cleland). I teach grade 8 Language Arts and Social Studies here at the amazing G.S Lakie Middle School. I spent the first four years of my career teaching Language Arts grade 6 and I am really looking forward to working in grade 8!

I grew up on a farm in Taber Alberta, moving to Lethbridge in 2013 to begin my post secondary education journey. I graduated from the U of L in 2018 with degrees in Education and English. After graduating I accepted a job teaching in Coaldale, in June of 2018 thus beginning my teaching career.

One of my passions, is mental wellness. I have studied mental wellness in conjunction with mindfulness strategies since just before graduating University. Mental wellness and health support and education for students is something I am passionate to bring to our classroom!

Outside of mental wellness some of my passions include: dance (I grew up competitively dancing), animals (farm kid things), time in nature (the mountains make me happy), exploring (a trait inherited from my Grandpa), skiing (rather poorly), skateboarding (with a lot of falling) , softball and hockey ( I grew up with two brothers, who I followed around during hockey and ball season… also, go Oilers go).

I feel so lucky to be at Lakie, and am excited to soak up every second of this year, at this wonderful school!
