Hello!

My name is Nicole (Nicki) Meier. This year I will be teaching math/science 8 amongst other options classes such as Cardboard Boat Races, Computers and Sports Enrichment! Although this is my first year at Lakie, this will be my 4th year teaching. Before Lakie, I taught grade 7-9 Science and Chemistry 20 and 30 at Vauxhall High School (VHS).  During my time there I was able to coach different levels of volleyball (and win a couple banners) as well as run the Student Council Program.

I grew up on an acreage outside of Taber, Alberta before moving to Lethbridge to play post-secondary volleyball at Lethbridge College. During that time, I fell in love with science and decided to pursue a bit of my degree at the University of Victoria so I could live by the ocean for a few years. I did, however, return home to Lethbridge to complete my Bachelor of Science and Bachelor of Education at the University of Lethbridge. Following my final practicum at VHS I was offered a teaching job and began my teaching career in January of 2019.

I am extremely passionate about science and understanding the world around me which I incorporate into my classroom daily. My genuine love for the topic certainly comes through in my teaching. Outside of science I am passionate about hiking, water sports, skiing, golfing, physical and mental health, my family, and my new puppy Lloyd.

I am very fortunate to have been able to join Lethbridge 51 and cannot wait to continue doing the job I love at G.S. Lakie.
